The Ten Best Gifts for Men to Give Women
77
Let's face it; some gifts are better than others. It's usually innocent; some men are at a loss as to what to buy a woman and end up making some odd choices. Although we all know that it's the thought that counts, here are some ideas that most every woman would love (in random order):
- 1. Skin Care
I'm not talking about wrinkle cream, here people! I mean any nice smelling lotion, body wash, sugar or salt rub. Just walk through your local bath and body shop and I'm sure you'll find something that she'll enjoy using. Women love to take care of themselves and smell good, too.
- 2. Make Her Dinner
Most ladies will find it a treat to be catered to. You can set the table and light some candles, or simply serve her on a blanket in the backyard. Cooking for her is a timeless, romantic gesture. Not the best cook? It doesn't matter! Give it a try and she will appreciate the effort. Even if it turns out burnt, she'll always remember it and you'll have a funny memory to share.
- 3. Massage or Other Spa Treatment
Instead of trying to guess what treatment she'd like, you have permission to buy a gift card to a local spa. This way, she can choose what she's comfortable doing. For example, some women may want an hour deep tissue massage while others might opt for a simple mani/pedi. (That's manicure/pedicure, for those who aren't familiar with spa lingo!) A nice idea would be to purchase a bottle of massage oil to go with the gift card. That way, you can massage at home, as well!
- 4. Flowers on NON-Holidays & Special Occasions
Of course flowers are wonderful on holidays or anniversaries, but don't forget to other 364 days of the year. It would be more of an unexpected surprise for you to send her flowers one day out f the blue. It would show her that you were thinking about her, not just because you had to get her a gift for a special occasion. Just don't spend an arm and a leg!
- 5. Her Favorite Food, Drink or Candy
Try delivering her lunch from her favorite deli, a cup of coffee from her favorite coffee shop, or a little box of her favorite candy. The key to this one is knowing what her favorites are! If you're unsure, try asking one of her friends. This is a thoughtful gift that shows you've been paying attention. (or at least her friend has been!)
- 6. Supplies for her Hobby or Interest
Again, I cannot stress how much getting her something that is directly related to her specific interests will show her that you care about her and what she's "into." Think about what she enjoys doing in her spare time. Is she an athlete, a scrapbooker, a gardener? Pull ideas from what loves to do.
- 7. Jewelry
You knew it was coming. I could not complete this list without mentioning that fine jewelry has been a staple gift for women for centuries or longer. Just make sure it's not gaudy or too expensive.
- 8. Something Handmade
If you're the handy type, you might want to show your skills and create a masterpiece for your beloved. Just make sure you have the right skills to complete what you have in mind. For example, when my husband and I were dating, he worked in a frame shop. He gave me a framed, matted print that I still have 12 years later. It's special to me knowing that he carefully picked out the mat colors, design, frame, etc.
- 9. Intimates/Cozy Wear
Ladies love frilly, soft, lovely things to wear around the house or to spice it up. A nice piece of lingerie, such as a gown or chemise is always tasteful and a pair of cute cotton pajama pants will make her feel comfy cozy. Don't forget the fuzzy slippers!
- 10.Your Undivided Attention
Ok, this one tops all others. Really what women want is not all of these material things, (well, ok, a few of them would be nice!) but you and your attention. Think of creative places to sit and talk or activities that you both enjoy, and spend time together. Ultimately, that's what is really important. You get bonus points if it's during a game you could be watching!
There it is. Good luck and happy shopping!

This is a great counterpart for your hub "The 7 Worst things to Give a Woman". Sure to be valuable advice for any man contemplating giving their lady love a gift.
I bought my wife a gift certificate to a spa a year ago. She keeps coming up with excuses why she can't go and I don't get it. I have tried everything to get her to go. I always make breakfast lunch and dinner when I am around. I am glad my grandmother taught me to cook. If she didn't I probably would be stuck with Ramen and toast. She has gotten better though she can make a few things that the kids like. I always try to come up with creative ideas. I made a flip book of the kids for mothers day that she really liked. She also likes the DVDs of the kids that I make for her too. Every special occasion I make her favorite foods and desserts. I give her my full attention but my memory stinks so it usually ends up not counting. Thanks for the other great suggestions.
Hey Linds! I love the list. Does this have anything to do with your upcoming anniversary?!?! Just kidding! Great job! TTYL
I'm not a big fan of anything that comes as a gift certificate. I ususally find that these rarely get redeemed. The gifts my wife has liked best are the ones where I did some planning. Like dinner reservations, arranged a baby sitter and took her to a play or concert.
I'm searching for a big gift idea for my wife with our 10 yr anniversary right around the corner. I just can't quite seem to find the right thing. I've been thinking a trip...
The best gift I have given my wife is my undivided attention and unconditional love.
thnx alot that was helpful :), the "worst" gifts article was so embarrasing to me..!
thnx for the advice,
keep hubbing
Very good info. Thank you for an informative hub
Hi MasonsMom
I am thinking this is a very clever ploy to get just what you want this christmas!:)
Number 10 is very economical! yet very romantic too!
Good luck!
I think number 4 is a true favorite of mine. This is for guys - they don't have to be expensive flowers! the simple $4.99 "package deal" with the price tag removed is just fine. Love your tips - I must have been best friends with you in a previous life.jk
This is a nice hub. I think this advice is going to make me a better lover. Keep it up!
Helpful hub!
Good suggestions.......now I have to head over to your worst gift ideas hub. LOL

Great ideas! I really like the dinner idea and the handmade idea. my husband has done both of these things for me and I really love it. He will usually make a handmade card for any occasion. May I offer to add this suggestion to the mix?
Here's a nifty site for gift ideas.... http://www.givethebestgifts.com. It lists the top gifts by category and is updated hourly. If these are the products most in demand there's a good chance they're the same ones my friends and family want.
Hey MasonsMom,
I really liked your work here, particularly that you talked about the spa gift making. This is a fantastic gift that a person can make to his wife and vise-versa. Then a health club gift can be made. As a matter of fact I have my hub page at : http://hubpages.com/hub/Corporate-Christmas-Gifts- in where I talked about these kinds of gifts and I just thought your readers and visitors can have more ideas reading my page.
Thanks
My gf loves when I give her a spontanious complement, that's the best gift I can give her... easy and free :)
